An unforgettable Big Island wedding absolutely does not require a six-figure budget or luxury resort pricing. There are numerous wonderful, intimate, and genuinely affordable options available for couples who want to prioritize their actual experience and the meaning of their commitment over extravagant spending.
Public Beach Park Ceremonies
The most budget-friendly way to get legally married in Hawaiʻi is on one of our numerous stunning public beaches that offer some of the most beautiful natural settings imaginable. However, this significant affordability does come with important trade-offs in the form of strict state regulations. To preserve the natural beauty and ensure continued public access to our precious beaches, the state government enforces rules that are absolutely non-negotiable.
Beach Wedding Regulations
- • Maximum ~30 people total (including vendors)
- • Standing-room-only ceremonies
- • No chairs (unless medically necessary)
- • No decorative arches or large decorations
- • No amplified music or sound systems
- • 2-hour permit window only
- • Simple, brief ceremonies
- • Permits starting at just $20

Consistently ranked as one of the world's most beautiful beaches by travel publications worldwide, this expansive stretch of perfect white sand provides an absolutely breathtaking ceremony location with crystal-clear turquoise water.
Note: Requires State Park permit with longer application process (45 days advance).
Charming Inns & Restaurants
These intimate venues offer the perfect blend of affordability, charm, and professional service without the complexity of planning a beach ceremony or the expense of luxury resorts.
